Day 1 Travel to Dubuque / Mississippi River Museum (D)
Get ready for a journey down “Ol’ Man
River” as it was in Mark Twain’s day with
Fun Tours. Upon arriving in Dubuque,
visit the amazing National Mississippi River
Museum and Aquarium. Get to know the
Mississippi through historic references, interactive
displays, and river creatures. It will
help prepare you for your all-day river cruise
journey.
Day 2 New Melleray Abby / Historic Galena (DCB, D)
This morning, take a fascinating look into
the life of a modern day monk at the New
Melleray Abby. See first hand the unique
product they produce to support their
ministry. Then, head over to historic Galena
where time stands still as you stroll Main
Street. Visit Belvedere Mansion built in
1857 by a steamboat owner. The 22-room
Italiante Mansion contains decorative arts,
items from Liberace’s estate, draperies from
“Gone With The Wind,” and more. Visit
the Ulysses S. Grant Home State Historic
Site that contains many of Grant’s original possessions and
furnishings. Take time to shop the quaint downtown before heading back to Dubuque and dinner with your fellow travel mates.
Day 3 All Day Mississippi River Cruise (B, L, D)
Think Mark Twain today! Board the Paddle
Wheeler Celebration Belle for an all-day, leisurely
100-mile cruise on the Mighty Mississippi.
The ship’s captain will narrate the history,
navigation, wildlife, and stories of Old
Man River. This cruise includes three full
meals (prime rib dinner), plus an afternoon
snack. The performers and staff will keep
you entertained with music, games, skits, or
just sit back, relax and enjoy the view.
Day 4 John Deere Visitor’s Center / Arsenal Island Tour / Home (B)
This morning, visit the John Deere Visitor’s
Center to get an inside look at how this
company changed the world of agriculture.
Then, tour Arsenal Island, the government’s
largest manufacturing arsenal founded
in 1862. It’s a fascinating look into our
country’s military history. Then, it’s time to
head home after a fun
trip on the Mississippi
River with Fun Tours.
