Day 1 Fly to Anchorage
Your Grand Alaskan Adventure begins
with your flight to Anchorage, Alaska’s
largest city.
Day 2 Worthington Glacier/Matanuska
Valley (B,D)
Board your deluxe motorcoach and ride
through the Matanuska Susitna Valley
where world-record sized vegetables grow
in the 24 hr daylight. Stop by Worthington
Glacier for a look at this gigantic
piece of ice. Nicknamed Alaska’s Little
Switzerland because it is nestled between
the waterfront and mountains, Valdez will
be your early evening destination.
Day 3 Prince William Sound Cruise
(CB,L)
Late morning, board a glacier and wildlife
cruise and travel through majestic Prince
William Sound. Explore the three-mile
face of the mighty Columbia Glacier and
hear tales of the region as told by the
Alaskan crew. Keep your eyes open for
seals, sea lions, otters, whales, and puffins
throughout this half-day exploration
cruise.
Day 4 Trans-Alaska Pipeline/Wrangell-
St. Elias National Park (CB)
Today, travel north to the largest city in
the interior, Fairbanks. The route takes
you along the Wrangell-St. Elias National
Park, the largest park in the U. S. and the
Trans-Alaska Pipeline.
Day 5 Fairbanks/Chena River Cruise
(B)
Today, learn how the gold rush affected
Alaska’s interior on a sightseeing tour
with an included visit to the University of
Alaska, Fairbanks Museum. There will be
time for you to do some shopping, walking,
or dining on your own in the downtown
area. Cruise the Chena River on
an authentic sternwheeler and experience the traditional mode of transportation of the 1800s. Tonight, an optional authentic salmon bake is offered.
Day 6 Denali National Park/Free
Afternoon (B)
Your journey goes south to Denali National
Park today. Enjoy an afternoon of
exploring this pristine area at your leisure
by either participating in a complimentary
park service activity or optional tour.
There are many from which to choose,
including mild or wild river rafting, flight
seeing Mt. McKinley, a jet boat safari on
the Nenana River or a visit to the award
winning dog kennels of Jeff King, the
2006 Iditarod champion.
Day 7 Denali National Park Tour
(B,SBM)
Today, take a six to eight-hour, narrated
Tundra Wildlife Tour in Denali National
Park. Keep your binoculars close by as
you will be in search of bear, moose, caribou,
and sheep!
Day 8 Free Morning/Alaska R.R. (B)
Enjoy your morning of leisure or your own
exploration. This afternoon it is all aboard
the world famous Alaska Railroad for the
day trip to Anchorage. While traveling,
you may catch a glimpse of the majestic
Mt. McKinley or see black bear along the
banks of the Susitna River.
Day 9 Alaska Native Center/Fly Home
(B,D)
This morning take a city tour of Anchorage
that includes the historic downtown
district and the Alaska Native Heritage Center, a gathering place that celebrates native Alaskan cultures. This evening you will feast on an Alaska style meal and share tales from the road with your traveling companions. Depart late this evening for home.
Day 10 Arrive Home
Return home after your overnight flight
with wonderful memories of your trip.
